The 4th of July is just around the corner and Suzy's got the list of extraordinary light shows happening in and around our local towns.
FRIDAY:
Harvard: 7/1, 5pm bands, food and fireworks, Fruitland Museums
SATURDAY:
Acton: 7/2 Concert 7:30, Fireworks 9:30, Nara Park
Ayer: 7/2, 9pm, Pirone Memorial Field
Lexington: 7/2 9:30pm
SUNDAY:
Sudbury: 7/4 Parade 1pm, Fireworks
OTHER:
Groton: 7/8 9pm Groton Town Field
For those of you seeking an extraordinary Independence Day, head to Boston!
The Boston Pops mark their 38th Anniversary along with Lionel Richie for a memorable concert. The event (concert and fireworks) takes place on the Esplanade in Boston along the Charles River.
No ticket is required. The event is free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Suzy recommends an early arrival and the following packing list:
An out of this world picnic
Frisbee
iPad/Nook/Kindle or other reading material
Blanket for an afternoon snooze
Folding chairs
Patriotism (and lots of it!)

For the July 4th event (concert and fireworks) the gates open at 9AM. The show is approximately two and a half hours, with a two hour concert and a half hour firework display.
Monday, July 4th Schedule:
8:30PM Boston Pops concert begins with the National Anthem and flyover
9:30PM "1812 Overture" is played
10:00PM CBS Network national broadcast begins
10:30PM Fireworks begin
11:00PM Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular ends
