Turning Trash into Cash for Westford Schools
As part of Westford's mission to provide "green" programs to the community, the Upcycle It! program collects non-recyclables such as drink pouches, Elmer's glue containers, chip bags, granola bar wrappers, coffee bags, and more to keep them out of landfills.
These items are being collected at Starbucks in Westford (starting May 3) and will be collected at the Westford Farmers Market (starting June 22). They are then sent to Terracycle - a company that shares our sustainable mission - who pays 2 cents for each piece collected. Sustainable Westford will be donating this money to the Westford Public Schools.
Please help the schools and the planet and reduce trash in landfills by helping us collect these items:
* Drink Pouches (Capri Sun, Kool Aid, etc.)
* Elmer's Glue (bottle, stick, pen)
* Energy or Granola Bars (all brands)
* Chip Bags (any chip bag small or large)
* Cookie Wrappers
* Candy Wrappers
* Coffee Bags (Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, etc.)
* Oral Care Products (toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes, packaging)
* Writing Instruments (pens, mechanical pencils, markets, highlighters, dry erase markers, Sharpies)
Check out Terracycle to learn how you can outsmart waste and get your schools some cash!
