Waterworks

Water, Water, Everywhere!
Celebrate the beauty and diversity of our local watershed by heading out to Drumlin Farm from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday, May 15. Enjoy a day of eco-friendly fun with visits from wetland wildlife, pond exploration, new spring farm babies, and ideas for greener living for both kids and adults. With your help, we can preserve the nature of Massachusetts! All activities are free with admission to the farm of $6 for nonmember adults; $4 for nonmember children (2-12) and seniors.

All Day
  * Visit the “Local Flow” exhibit area to learn how organizations are working to protect our watershed (1:00-4:00pm)
  * Walk the new Green Trail of energy conserving and green building features
  * Explore the sanctuary with a special Water Works scavenger hunt


Saturday, May 15th  Schedule of special events

10:00~Eco Artistry: at the base of the solar sculpture to create some eco-inspired crafts
10:30~Duck Duck Goose: Meet some of the resident water fowl and learn about their role in a healthy ecosystem
11:30~Down by the Pond: Take a closer look at the plants and animals that live in and around the Poultry Pond
12:30~Save It, Don’t Pave It: Visit the kid-powered experiment station to make and test your own hypotheses about storm water
2:00~  Yertle’s Friends: Visit up close with a turtle or two!
2:30~  Seeing Seedlings: See, smell & touch some of the garden plants & learn how water is managed in sustainable farming operations
3:30~  Small Critters: Learn about the unique habitat of our vernal pool and see what critters make it their home
3:45~  Make Way for Mallards: Up close with New England’s favorite duck



Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary, Mass Audubon’s only working educational farm, practices sustainable farming that supports native habitat. As a leader in environmental education, the sanctuary strives to build awareness of the interdependence among people, land, and wildlife.
