How does your typical evening compare to helping save lives? The Relay for Life is an unforgettable night for people who's lives have been touched by cancer to laugh, cry, remember, and celebrate with one another, while raising money to fight cancer. The Relay For Life supports the American Cancer Society's programs of cancer research, education, advocacy, and patient services.
Come Join the Fun!Teams of 8-15 family, friends, or coworkers join together to take turns walking overnight around the track, supported by the funds raised from the teams' sponsors to fight cancer. Choose a team name, and create your own web page on the fundraising website. Come Relay Day, grab your tents, sleeping bags, food and campsite decorations and get ready to camp out while someone from your team is on the track at all times. You do not have to spend the entire night but its more fun and rewarding if you do!
The Survivor Lap Survivors are the heart of the Relay. As you watch the survivors begin the Survivor Lap to kickoff the Relay, you will see not only them, but their families, friends and strangers cheering, laughing and crying – all in honor of those who have won the battle, those who continue to fight, and those who have lost the battle with cancer.
Luminarias Light the Way with Hope After the sun goes down, candles are placed in hundreds of sand-filled bags bearing the names of those who have, or had, cancer. Behind every bag there is a story to tell. When lit, they brighten the way for Relay walkers throughout the night to remind everyone of how cancer touches all of us.
There are many ways to participate – organize or join a team, sponsor a team, have your organization be a sponsor of the Relay for Life, volunteer to help with various activities, or simply come and cheer!
