Sew Simple! Notions
...a weekly feature providing answers to your sewing questions!

Suzy thought it might be fun to have owner and instructor of
Create!® Sewing Studio, Becca,  share tips and tricks about sewing with you! Let us know what you think!

Q: What are “notions”?
A:  Notions are all of those little additional items you use in sewing that are not fabric. This includes thread, buttons, snaps, hooks, elastic, zippers, twill tape, bias tape, interfacing, cording… the list goes on and on!
When you have decided on a pattern and chosen your fabric, look at the back of the pattern very carefully to see what else is needed. Many of our advanced students do a great job of choosing a pattern and fabric, but they often forget one or more of the notions. Fortunately for our students, we stock many basic notions at the studio that they can use at no extra charge.
Attention to detail in the fabric store will make for a happier sewing experience when you are back in front of your sewing machine. There’s nothing as frustrating as getting your project out to work on and it's missing one small but necessary item!

We will write more about some of your most important notions in next week’s Sew Simple!

Keep an eye out for more from Becca, each week in Suzy's newsletters!

Sewing Classes are being held all summer long (group & private available for Adults, Teens & Children)
