In honor of National Heart Month (and a long family history of heart disease) Suzy amping up her New Year's resolutions with a few extra workouts and heart-healthy eating in February. Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of American women! A great way to ensure she eats healthy and save tons of money is cooking at home. Below are a few "heart-healthy" foods she's trying to pay particular attention to adding into her repetoire this month.
*Salmon - awesome source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids to reduce blood pressure - and delicious!
*Oatmeal - whole grains and a great source of vitamins, minerals, and cholesterol-lowering fiber - and easy, yummy breakfast!
*Spinach - loaded with vitamins and minerals that protect against heart disease and preserve your eyesight - hello, Popeye!
*Blueberries - full of fiber, vitamin C, and anti-inflammatories, which reduce your risk of heart disease and cancer - and the Little Suzy's love 'em!
*Avocados - packed with good fats and can help lower bad cholesterol levels in the body - and Mr. Suzy makes the best guacamole ever!
