Person to Person Seeking Donations - week of 12/1

Sunday, November 23, 2008

The cold weather is upon us and we are experiencing unusually high demand for our Emergency Food Orders and Free Clothing, even from people who have never before sought assistance from Person-to-Person.

We need your help to meet this need.

Clothing: On a weekly basis we have more than 360 visits to our Clothing Center, which provide clothes for nearly 1,100 people. And appointments are booked far in advance.

Please take the time to sort through your closets and dressers. Like many of us, chances are that you have clothing you no longer need.

Our clients need clean, gently-used clothing for men, women, children and babies: coats and jackets, hats and scarves, gloves and mittens, shoes and boots, trousers and skirts, blouses and shirts, sweaters and vests.

Food: Last month we provided food for more than 10,000 meals, which was a 32% increase over September. And the demand continues.

Please help stock our Food Pantry with nonperishable items such as Parmalat, canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter and jelly, pasta and sauce, healthy cereals and other nutritious foods.

Consider adding these items to your shopping list or picking them up at the grocery store when there is a sale. Many of the local markets (Palmer's, Shaw's and Stop & Shop) have P2P drop boxes.

Our clients are struggling financially, trying to stretch already tight budgets, and your donations are invaluable to them.

We accept Food and Clothing donations Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm, Thursday evenings until 6pm and Saturday mornings from 9am to 12noon.

Thank you for your generosity and continued support
