Suzy is learning slowly but surely that she shouldn't run and scream from honeybees.

The New Canaan Nature Center will be hosting a Honey Bee Open House for the entire community on Saturday, July 25th from 10:00AM – 2:00PM in the Visitor's Center. Everyone is invited to learn more about honeybees and honey, pollination, the amazing health benefits and the importance to our environment and ecosystem. In addition to the activities below, kids will have the chance to complete a honeybee themed scavenger hunt and honey bee parade!

All are encouraged to come dressed in black & yellow for the honeybee costume parade at 1:30PM!

Here's the day's schedule:
10 AM Unveiling of the new honeybee observation hive in the Discovery Room
11AM – Noon Marina Marchese, owner of Red Bee Honey will share her experiences as a beekeeper and conduct a honey tasting to highlight different nectar sources that create each unique flavor profile
Noon – 1PM Encaustics (beeswax) art demonstration with Silvermine Guild artist Elizabeth Back
1PM Wildflower walk & talk lead by New England Wildflower Society
1:30PM Honeybee costume parade - prizes will be awarded!
