Darien High School is holding a charity event that benefits Soles4Souls. Soles4Souls is a a program that started as a relief effort after Hurricane Katrina to send shoes to affected areas where 3 out of 4 people were barefoot.
Now, Soles4Souls sends over 2 million pairs of shoes per year to more than 100 countries. In the United States, Soles4Souls donates shoes to homeless shelters and battered women's shelters. Overseas, many people have started micro-businesses refurbishing and selling old shoes.
Runner's Roost is accepting these shoe donations from April 13 - May 15.
