Full Moon Paddling
Monday, June 8th from 7-9pm Downunder Kayaking will be leading a twilight paddle of the Fish Islands.  Paddlers will be equipped with lightsticks and accompanied by trained guides.  This is an ideal time of day to enjoy the wildlife these islands are home to, as well as superb photography opportunities.  Rentals for this event are $53 for singles and $39pp doubles.

St. Birgitta's luncheon paddle
Wednesday June 11th, 11-2pm kayakers will depart from Downunder Kayaking, below the Rowayton Market in Rowayton, for a paddle to the Convent of St. Birgitta, a Bridgettine order of Nuns that run a guest house/retreat center in Darien.  The sisters recently celebrated the 52nd anniversary of their location in Tokeneke.  Ideally situated on the water at Scotts Cove, the property has a dock for the kayakers to tie up to.  The outing including lunch is $80/single and $60pp double or BYO kayak - $40.

Yoga by Kayak
Saturday June 13th 9-11:30 AM at Downunder Kayaking in Rowayton. Owner Kim Beaumont, formerly a children's yoga instructor, found that kayaking is naturally yogic, and has incorporated it into her children's programs.   In 2007, Beaumont hired local instructor Sherry White of White Tara Yoga to offer a program for adults.  "Sherry does warm-up stretches on the dock, some simple ones in the kayak, followed by a 'meditative' paddle to a beach / island for 45 minutes of gentle yoga. This program was so popular it won a Best of the Gold Coast award.   The program is offered Saturday mornings June through September.  $35pp, plus rentals or byo kayak, 4 person minimum.

Farm Creek Kayaking Fundraiser
Saturday June 13th 2-4:30pm.  This is a very diverse paddle starting on the Five Mile River, going into Long Island Sound, around the eastern coves of Bell Island into Wilson Point and under a bridge into the nature reserve of Farm Creek.  The Creek is maintained by the Farm Creek Preservation Fund which relies on donations to maintain the reserve and protect it from development by acquiring surrounding property.  The Norwalk Land Trust is endeavoring to purchase prime water-front property at 34 Sammis Street in Rowayton - to protect the tidal estuary.

The fund consists of primarily private donations – from all sizes - from kids selling lemonade to some very generous individuals. More than 800 households and foundations and businesses have helped us them get this far.  Downunder Kayaking requests $15 donations from participants on this paddle and matches it.
