If you're looking for one more quick getaway with the kids this summer, head due north about 90 minutes, to a place that makes you feel like you're on vacation, even if it's just for a day.
Head to Watch Hill, RI.
Watch Hill is the first real ocean beach north of LI sound, and you know it the moment you get there. Take the babes to the calm side near the carousel and the bigger kids up the hill to the bigger beach (translation: bigger waves)
Be sure to pack a picnic, you'll want to spend the entire day. If you need a break from the UV rays, take a walk to town for a ride on the carousel, an ice cream and some shopping. There's something for everyone in this charming town.
Directions:
Heading North on I-95. Take (CT) exit 92 onto Rt. 2 and bear right at end of ramp. Continue on Rt. 2 until you reach Rt. 78 (to beaches). Take Rt. 78 all the way to the traffic light at the intersection with Rt. 1. Go straight across Rt. 1 onto Airport Road. At first stop sign on Airport Road go straight. At second stop sign take a left onto Watch Hill Road. You will be on Watch Hill Road for approximately 3 miles.
