DCA Open House

The Darien Community Association is holding its Annual Open House on Thursday, September 10th at 10:00am. During the Open House, all classes and activities available will be showcased and sign-up available.
Classes this year include, but are not limited to Bridge Lessons, Duplicate Bridge, Supervised Play in Bridge, Spanish I, II, and Conversational Spanish, Beginning, and Intermediate French, Painting, and Body Tune-Up, an exercise class. Returning this year is the popular "Adventure to Learn More About China" class taught by Mrs. Eugenia Pan. In addition to these offerings there are many more groups and activities that encompass all ages and interests.
General Programs feature fascinating top-notch speakers including Tracy Kidder, Pulitzer Prize-winning author, as do the Academic Lectures focusing this year on the Afghanistan-India-Pakistan border. The title of this year's Art Lectures is "Plain Exuberance: American Folk Art". Book Group includes Page Turners, Writer's Workshop and the Meet the Authors Series. The Senior Men's Association, Sixty Plus Club, and the DCA Women's Group have many social activities and speakers. A trip to the Culinary Institute of America is just one of the events planned by the Women's Group. For those with a musical inclination there are Blue Notes, a women's singing group, as well as the piano group, Duo-Piano. For those with a green thumb there is the Garden Club and Greenhouse. For the younger set there is the Mom's Morning In Program for tots and their parents or caregivers. The popular Theater Group plans three trips to Broadway each year.
Coffee and tea will be served.
The Darien Community Association, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization with the following mission: "to provide educational, cultural, recreational and civic programs, to generate funds for scholarships and other philanthropic works within the community, and to maintain Meadowlands as a community resource." Volunteers are needed and appreciated. The DCA is open to all.
