Go behind the Scenes at the Maritime Aquarium...
The "Behind-the-Scenes Tour" sounds very cool to Suzy. It's an opportunity to see how the animal-husbandry staff take care of the Aquarium's animals.
The tour stops at the Aquarium's "fish kitchen," where 18 tons of fish food is prepared each year, and above the 110,000-gallon Open Ocean exhibit, where the dorsal fins of 7-foot sand tiger sharks cut through the water surface just below you. Toss in some capelin to see who's hungry. Visitors also learn the delicate requirements of a jellyfish "nursery" and perhaps get the chance to hand-feed the cownose rays.
Participants must be at least 10 years old.
under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
Cost is $30 ($20 for members) and includes Aquarium admission after the tour at 10 a.m. Space on the tour is limited, so reservations are strongly recommended. Walk-up tickets will be sold, space permitting. For reservations or more details, call The Maritime Aquarium at (203) 852-0700, ext. 2206.
Suzy Side Dish: Suzy suggests calling ahead to be sure that they are accepting Walk-up tickets if you haven't made reservations. Don't drive all the way down there assuming there will be space...this event seems pretty cool so it will probably be pretty packed!
When:
Saturday, Mar 20th
starts at 8:15 a.m.
Where:
