Local Memorial Day Parades
Monday, May 20, 2013

Show your American pride this Memorial Day by coming out to support and cheer on our local veterans, marching bands, commissioners, firefighters, little leaguers and more in one of your local parades
Rowayton
Sunday, May 26 at 12 Noon
Rowayton Community Center (rain or shine)
Celebrate Rowayton's town spirit at the annual Memorial Day Parade! Pick your favorite spot along Rowayton Avenue or McKinley Street and cheer for our veterans, Brien McMahon and Roton School marching bands, the town commissioners, volunteer firefighters, Little Leaguers, Scouts and all the many other enthusiastic marchers (even four-footed ones!). After the parade, join fellow residents at Veteran’s Cannon to honor those who died in their service to our country. Then, head on over to the Fire House for hot dogs and soda, hosted by our local firefighters and their families.
Darien
Monday, May 27 at 10 AM
The Darien Memorial Day Parade will kick off their activities at 10 AM at the Goodwives Shopping Center on Old Kings Highway, and end at the Soldier's Monument in the Connecticut Veterans Cemetery, where a ceremony will take places immediately following the parade. Don't forget the EMS 53 annual Memorial Day Food Fair and Community Celebration at Tilly Pond Park. It's a day of celebration and excitement for the town of Darien. Post 53 members work year round to prepare for this day of food, live entertainment, games, ambulance tours, and a silent auction. The famous food tents include food from local vendors and Post 53’s own recipies. The event is a day of fun for the entire family and helps to maintain Darien EMS’s free service to the town of Darien.
New Canaan
Monday, May 27 at 9 AM
Que the drums! New Canaan's annual Memorial Day Parade will get underway bright and early at 9 AM on Monday morning. It will begin at St. Mark's Church on Oenoke Ridge and will march on Main Street to Lakeview Cemetery where a memorial ceremony will be held. New Canaan brothers and veterans Forrest and Russell Kimes III will serve as this year’s grand marshals.
