Olivia at the Library
Wednesday, August 27, 2008

In honor of Olivia's creator -- Ian Falconer's birthday on August 25, the Rowayton Library has announced the addition of the new "Olivia" library card, now available to all Rowayton residents.
Mr. Falconer, a childhood resident of Rowayton, wrote and illustrated Olivia, Olivia Saves the Circus, Olivia...and the Missing Toy, Olivia Forms a Band, and Olivia Helps with Christmas. His illustrations have also appeared on twenty-six covers of the New Yorker magazine, and he has designed sets and costumes for the New York City Ballet, the San Francisco Opera, Chicago Lyric, and the Royal Opera House (Covent Garden), among others.
September is Library Card Sign-up Month - a time to remind parents and kids that a library card is the most important school supply of all.
The new "Olivia" library card is the fourth of a series of new library cards. Rowayton Library patrons may exchange their current Rowayton Library cards for the new Olivia library card and new patrons may choose from the current styles: Olivia by Ian Falconer, The Rowayton Library Classic by Nina Craig, WPA mural Packet Day by George Avison, or the Rowayton Civic Association's Rowayton logo. For more information, please contact the Rowayton Library at (203) 838-5038 or email at Library@Rowayton.org.
