What are your kids doing this summer? The hugely popular Westport Writers’ Workshop now offers creative writing workshops for children and teens entering grades 5 through 12. One-week workshops, such as Write Your College Essay: Get it Done in a Week, are now filling quickly.

Westport Writers’ Workshop Founder/Director Jessica Bram tells us that during the year she receives countless requests from parents about workshops for children and teens. “Summer is obviously the best time to offer them, and we are fortunate to have experienced workshop leaders who are recognized for the way they inspire children and teens to write.”
Julia McNamee, Staples HS AP English teacher, will lead Write Your College Essay: Get it Done in a Week! “For incoming seniors, the biggest obstacle to writing the college essay is just getting started. During summer, the brain is freed up to think creatively,” she said. “In a small group setting, the kids really energize each other and stimulate creativity.”
Summer workshops for younger writers include Creative Writing (Grades 5 & 6), Creative Writing: Fiction and Fantasy, Journalism: Reporting and Column Writing, The World According To Me, and Be a Blogger.
Established in 2005, the Westport Writers’ Workshop offers supportive creative writing workshops designed to nurture creativity, inspire imagination, and develop the writing craft.
