New Canaan's Restaurant Week
Monday, August 22, 2011

This is a far from ordinary restaurant week! The New Canaan Chamber of Commerce has partnered with local restaurants for the first ever Restaurant Week to take place August 26th until September 3rd all to benefit the New Canaan Food Pantry.
Restaurant Week Participating restaurants include:
Tuscan, Fifty Coins, Cherry Street East Café, Gates, Plum Tree Restaurant, Cava, Roger Sherman Inn, Thali, Solé, The Pine Social, Kouzina, Club Sandwich, and Bistro Bonne Nuit.
To kick off the week, The Taste of the Town Stroll will take place on Thursday, August 25th and then it's on to a week of Prix Fixe menus available at participating restaurants beginning on 8/26.
Here's how the stroll works:
Donations to the food pantry will be accepted between 6 - 9 PM, Thursday, August 25th at designated areas in exchange for an opportunity to win fabulous prizes at our Taste of the Town Stroll. Please visit us closer to this date to see a complete list.
Once downtown on August 25th, Food Pantry drop-off locations will collect donations in exchange for "Stroll Maps" which will direct the public to participating restaurants and local businesses. An American Airlines' table will be located on Elm Street below the Chamber office with samples of their business class menu and a limited number of substantial promotion codes. There will also be live entertainment along with festive events at each designated stop. Once participants visit a location on the map they must receive a hole punch and continue to the next location until their maps are completed. At 9 PM stroll maps must be returned to Tucker Murphy at the New Canaan Chamber office on Elm Street for a chance to win the following:
Two round-trip business class tickets to either South America or Europe
4 Broadway tickets
$50 restaurant gift certificates and gifts from our local sponsors
Monetary donations can also be exchanged for stroll maps. The Chamber has partnered with Walter Stewart's Market to provide participants with a choice of purchasing a bag of groceries in $10, $20 or $30 amounts.
Suggested donation items include:
Coffee (regular drip, regular instant and decaf instant), honey, stews, paper products, laundry detergent, boxed cold cereal, canned poultry (chicken, turkey), instant drink mixes (iced tea, lemonade, etc), dried fruits (apricots, raisins, prunes, cranraisins).
