Animal Rescue
We all know that feeling when we see a creature on the side of the road, wanting to do something but not knowing where to take it or how to help. Often the kids are in the back seat asking the same thing

The Darien Nature Center will now be taking your calls.
The Nature Center receives daily calls from concerned residents about found, injured and abandon animals.
Birds, rabbits, deer and squirrels are some of the more common animals that make their way to the door.

Until now, they have not been able to accept injured wildlife, as they were not licensed to do so.  But they're pleased to report that the Nature Center is able to handle a small number of mammals.  Nina Miller, who is currently interning at Earth Place for her license, will be their rehabilitation specialist.

So now if you do find a small injured animal, please call the Nature Center at 655-7459.
Space will be limited and if they are unable to help you, they'll recommend Wildlife in Crisis at 544-9913 and Wild Wings at 637-9822.

Suzy tip: PLEASE CALL FIRST, as they cannot accept any animals unless Nina is on-site to receive them.
