Since 1939, NCMT has been a part of the Junior Cavalry of America, building leadership, responsibility and confidence in youth through sound horsemanship. All donated and rescued horses and ponies in the stables are used to teach children ages 7 & up equine and veterinary care, riding, and showmanship during the nine month program.

The program ranks Cadets according to their level of participation, Troop spirit, horsemanship skills and mounted skills. Cadets learn complete barn management  by cleaning tack, grooming, wrapping, blanketing and feeding. Throughout the year, NCMT’s hosts ceremonies and events such as The  Halloween Carnival and Parade, Trooper Nights, Gymkhanas, The Barn Dance, and The Stars Over Waveny Holiday party.

For those who want to help, a $30 donation to Adopt A Horse will provide vaccines , supplements, and feed for one of the horses.
Every contributor gets a profile of their horse, his personality and his history, along with a little toy stuffed animal.
