Take the Plunge in 2012
Monday, December 26, 2011

It’s that time of year, when locals of every stripe band together and take “The Plunge” for a fabulous cause. It’s the annual Save the Children Mossman Plunge at Compo Beach. Sure, the waters of the Long Island Sound are awfully cold right about now, but would you let a little cold water stand between you and raising money for Save the Children’s efforts to better the lives of impoverished and vulnerable kids and their families around the world?
Suzy didn’t think so.
According to the organizers at Team Mossman, English Channel rules apply. Which just means that swimming trunks are compulsory (thank goodness), but goggles, swimcaps and body grease are optional.
If you think you’re (wo)man enough, you can sign up at Team Mossman’s website. Registration fees range from $35 to $100, and you’ll be provided with a link to send to your family and friends, telling them about the crazy plunge you’re willing to make for charity and asking them to support you with a donation.
100 percent of the proceeds from this event will be donated to Save the Children’s Girls Education programs which provide books, educational materials and teacher training to educate young girls in places like Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
