Moms At Work...Shannon Kiebler Creator of Bosom Blanket
Sunday, October 19, 2008

Shannon Kiebler is a mom and creator of Bosom Blanket. Shannon created the Bosom Blanket to simplify a mom's life by combining a nursing cover, a blanket, and a tummy mat all in one. Inspired by the "women entrepreneurial" spirit, Suzy asked Shannon if she would share her inspiration with us...
What inspired you to make the Bosom Blanket?
Nursing my daughter was a pure joy for me, however I am more on the modest side. I was proud to nurse, but not so proud to show my "goods." Thus the Bosom Blanket was born. It solves the problems with the other nursing covers. It has a soft neckline, that still comes out so mom can see baby, however this neckline doesn't twist in the wash and also allows the cover/blanket to fold compactly. It is dual sided. One fashionable side for mom, one snuggle flannel side for baby.

I love that these are made by Colorado moms...Can you tell us a little more about that?
I was the original seamstress and although my grandmother tried hard when I was young, I am just not that great at it. I had the ideas, but I really wanted the Bosom Blanket to be a high quality product. It was VERY important to me that moms made these. I didn't want to ship overseas, although the cost is much lower to do so. I value stay at home moms and knew that if I needed the extra income, so did other moms. I put an add out in Craig's List to find mom seamstresses and I hit a gold mine! I have found a few excellent seamstresses that put a lot of love and care into each Bosom Blanket. Each is handmade in Colorado. I still do some of the sewing, to keep things in perspective! We are supporting moms, our local economy, and our families!
What is the best piece of advice ever given to you?
There are two pieces of advice I live by: Failing to plan is planning to fail. This has helped me personally, professionally, spiritually, and as a mom! Planning really is a necessary step to avoid being frazzled all the time! And, a time proven scripture, " Rejoice in your sufferings, for suffering produces perserverance, perseverance character, and character hope."
What is the most embarrassing song on your ipod?
"Beans" by Andrew Peterson ( a children's song about farting) :)
What book is on your night stand?
I am reading two: The Story Of John, by Jerry B Jenkins &Tim LaHaye and Toddler Wise by Ezzo
