Coming This Fall to Fairfield…
Plan B Burger Bar, a Hartford-based favorite with nearby locations in Stamford and Milford, is coming to town this fall. Housed in the newly renovated Post Office building in Fairfield Center, it will feature all-American craft beers, bourbon, and burgers made with antibiotic- and hormone-free ground beef, which is ground daily on site. While the high-quality meat is a Plan B constant, each individual location is unique. CEO Allie Gamble explains “We build relationships with local farms because the food is always fresher. For example, in Milford, we work with Robert Treat Farm, Bishops Acres, Holcomb and Jones Farms. We’ll do the same thing at Plan B Fairfield. We’re excited to partner up with growers in the community and offer specialty items that our other locations won’t feature. It's part of our dream of growing big while remaining small.”
The 140 seat restaurant will combine elements like reclaimed wood and Plan B’s signature meat hook light fixtures. In addition, local artists will create bourbon and craft beer inspired artwork to give the space some hometown flair. “A big reason that we’re bringing Plan B to Fairfield is because our customers in the area have been complaining that they have to drive to either Milford or Stamford. So this location will help to bridge that gap and cut down on requests from hungry, thirsty, fun people who are jonesing for good booze and great burgers.”
If you’re jonesing for Italian food, hop across the street to the Brickwalk, where Brick+Wood, a Neopolitan-style restaurant, is opening in the former Ponte Vecchio space. The menu will star wood-fired pizza, a mozzarella bar with house-made cheeses, and Italian street foods, inspired by owner Paolo Cavalli’s childhood in Italy. “I suppose I could give it a name, but really, it’s just the food I grew up eating,” he says of the foods that are abundant throughout the city streets of Italy. He goes on to describe the pizzas as the “perfect pizza” which are certified by the Associazone Pizzaiuoli Napoletani (APN), an association formed in Naples to “preserve the authentic Neapolitan pizza values.” For diners, this means freshly made, hand-tossed crusts, imported San Marzano tomatoes, and house-made fior di latte mozzarella. In addition, 26 carefully selected wines-on-tap, beautifully set against a wooden wine cask backdrop will grace the bar area. This contemporary design of dispensing maintains the integrity of wine, and will be served by the glass, quartino, and carafe.
The newly redesigned space (created by Haverson Architecture & Design), will feature distressed wood and worn Chicago brick, which give the restaurant its name. Other elements include stacks of wood (used to fuel the mosaic-tiled pizza oven), dangling light fixtures, and a butcher-block and marble topped mozzarella bar.
Both fun, new eateries are set to open in early fall.
