Comedian Paula Poundstone
Armed only with a stool, a can of Diet Pepsi and a razor-sharp wit, Emmy Award-winning comedian Paula Poundstone takes the stage at Fairfield University's Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts on Friday, Nov. 20 at 8 p.m.  The event is part of Fairfield's annual season of Arts & Minds events.  Tickets are $45, $40 and $35.

As the National Spokesperson for the Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations, (ALTAFF), Paula is partnering with local group, The Friends of the Fairfield Public Library for the November 20th event.

Says Poundstone: "It's funny that we think of libraries as quiet demure places where we are shushed by dusty, bun-balancing, bespectacled women. The truth is libraries are raucous clubhouses for free speech, controversy and community. Librarians have stood up to the Patriot Act, sat down with noisy toddlers and reached out to illiterate adults. Libraries can never be shushed. If you haven't been to your library lately, you're over-due."

Paula will be holding a book signing following her performance.  Copies of Paula's book and CD, "There's Nothing in This Book That I Meant to Say will be sold.

Tickets for the November 20th event are available online at www.quickcenter.com or by calling the Box Office at 203-254-4010.  For more information about the Friends of the Fairfield Public Library, visit www.fairfieldpubliclibrary.org.
