Countdown to Kindergarten Tonight

The Fairfield Public Library, in collaboration with the Fairfield Public Schools, invites all parents to "Countdown to Kindergarten". The program will take place on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 7 PM at the main library.
During the program a panel of professionals will discuss how parents can prepare their child for kindergarten. Panelists, representing the Fairfield public schools and the public library, will include kindergarten teachers, a school social worker, a language arts consultant, the coordinator of preschool special education, two speech and language pathologists and several children's librarians. The program will cover topics such as: a typical day in kindergarten, reading readiness, skills that children will use in kindergarten, identifying special needs students, selecting the right books for kindergarteners, and ways parents can ensure their child's success in kindergarten.
