Instead of paying $10 a ticket to a Friday night movie, try the new film series at the Fairfield Public Library.
When: Friday nights at 7 PM
What: Movie plus post-film discussion
Here's the lineup:
Friday, Oct.17 -- "Targets" (Peter Bogdanovich, USA, 1968, 90 min)
A few years before "The Last Picture Show," Bogdanovich made a splashy debut with this atypical thriller. Boris Karloff plays a has-been horror movie icon. Rated R.
Friday, Nov.21 "La Ceremonie" (1995, Claude Chabrol, France, 1995, 111 min)
Ruth Rendell's classic suspense novel, "A Judgment in Stone," was brought to the screen with all of its unsettling twists intact. Jacqueline Bisset stars as a wealthy French wife and mother who doesn't realize what she is getting into when she hires a meek cook/maid (Sandrine Bonnaire) with a terrible secret. Rendell believes this is one of the finest dramatizations of her work. French with English subtitles.
Friday, Dec.19 "Ginger Snaps"(John Fawcett, Canada, 2000, 108 min)
Possibly one of the greatest feminist werewolf movie ever made. It is one of the most original, funny, and scary horror movies of the new millennium. It's endlessly insightful and fun.
