When you receive your latest mailing from the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles, make sure to take a look at the fine print. You may be eligible to renew your vehicle registration online at www.ctgov/dmv.

The new service went online earlier this summer.

Who May Use Online Renewal:
Only vehicle owners whose renewal notice stated that they were eligible. In that notice is a special Personal Identification Number (PIN) needed to access the online system. Please note that only vehicle owners whose registration expiration date is September 2007 or later may renew online.

Vehicle Owners Eligible to Renew Online:
Vehicle owners may renew online provided they have no delinquent taxes, outstanding parking tickets or suspended registration. They also must have complied with insurance and emissions testing requirements.

Address and Other Changes:
You cannot make address and other changes to your information at the DMV using this renewal system. You can request a change-of-address form to file an address change with the DMV. In addition, any other changes to your registration will require that you mail in your application.

If you register using the new system, you will be provided with an online receipt. Make sure to check the mail for your new registration certificate and windshield sticker.
