Halloween Happenings
Halloween is getting closer and there are terrific events to choose from all around town.

Jack-O'-Lantern Spectacular
For 11 magical nights (10/23 - 11/ 2) the outdoor spaces around The Maritime Aquarium will offer an incredible art show presented on glowing pumpkins. The event is appropriate for all ages. To manage crowds the Aquarium is ONLY selling tickets in advance.  Tickets are $12 Sunday through Thursday and $14 on Fridays and Saturdays. (Maritime Aquarium members receive a $2 discount.)  Tickets are on sale now online and at the Aquarium ticket counter.  For additional information about the event visit maritimeaquarium.org

Connecticut Seaside Ghosts Lecture and Book Signing at the Barnum Museum
Thursday, October 23rd, 2008 3 PM
Explore 400 years of local ghostly tales in this presentation from Paranormal Researcher Donald Cater. Mr. Carter not only gives us background on local legends, but shows us the tools, and technology used to unearth that information. See real equipment used to detect the other worldly dimension. Spooky Stroll, Fairfield Museum and History Center
Friday Oct. 24 at 6 PM & Saturday, Oct. 25 at 5 PM
Ghosts, witches and goblins of all ages are invited to a Spooky Stroll.  Follow a costumed guide through Fairfield's legendary Town Green and Old Burying Ground.  Bring your flashlights and costumes are encouraged!  Spooky Stroll begins at Fairfield Museum.  Please pre-register, call 259-1598.  Cost: adults $5, children $3.

Halloween Kids Night Out at Sweet Rexies
Friday, October 24th, 2008 6:30 - 8 PM
Visit Sweet Rexies this Friday 10/24 for a Halloween Kids Night Out. Start the night with face painting and spooky tattoos. Make your own trick-or-treat bucket, complete with reflective trimming. Play games, eat dinner and make your own Halloween sundae. Finish it off with a treat in your new bucket. Maybe even do the Monster Mash!

The musical blends the pop iconography of "Grease" and "High School Musical," and is filled with 1950s-inspired music and lots of dance. Don't worry, even though it has a Halloween theme, it's more fun than scary. The production is vintage retro fun with lots of laughs.

Enchanted Forest at the Audubon
Put on your costume and join the CT Audubon for a guided walk through their Enchanted Forest, discovering the creatures that are awake at night.
Friday, October 24th, 5:30 - 8 PM
The annual Halloween event is a fun, safe and low-key way to celebrate the autumn season. Before or after your walk, come inside for games, crafts and snacks, and meet the Center's creepy, crawly and feathery critters.
Guided walks leave on the half hour starting at 5:30 p.m. Call to reserve your tickets for one of the following walks: 5:30, 6, 6:30, 7 or 7:30 PM
Event is held rain or moonshine.
Pre-registration is required. Payment is also required when you register: please call 259-6305 ext. 109. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Fee for CAS members: $10/child, $8/adult. For Non-members: $14/child, $12/adult. All proceeds support CT Audubon's year-round conservation and education programs.

Halloween Monster Mash at Stepping Stones Museum

Beardsley Zoomobile "Creepy Crawlies" & Pumpkin Carving at the Pequot Library
Saturday, October 25th, 2008 11 AM - Noon
Beardsley Zoo's Zoomobile will visit the Library with its Halloween assortment of delightful creatures. Come learn about these lovely critters from the Zoo's wildlife educators. Then carve your family pumpkins on the Great Lawn.  Bring your own pumpkins and a sharp knife to cut the lids. Carving tools and stencils will be provided—plus snacks and "spooky" songs…. (Registration required for zoomobile—max. 30 children. Boo at the Zoo at the Beardsley Zoo
Sunday, October 26th, 2008 Noon - 3 PM
Go Trick-or-Treating at the Beardsley Zoo's "Boo at the Zoo".  During Boo at the Zoo on Oct. 26 from noon to 3 PM, the zoo will offer free admission for children under 12 in costume accompanied by their (paying) families.
The event will feature music, candy, games, crafts, and the Farmyard Barn decked out for the holiday.

Haunted Hunt at the Fairfield Museum & History Center
Thursday, October 30th, 2008 5 -7 PM
Pre-teens and teens are invited to this haunted scavenger hunt. Teams of 4-5 will use compass skills in a hair-raising race collecting clues in the Old Burying Ground. Prizes will be awarded! Pre-registration required. $5 per person.
