Get Rid of Ticks
Tuesday, March 13, 2012

It's Suzy favorite time of year, but there's one thing that she's constantly battling, keeping ticks and the diseases they carry off her family and dog.
This year is predicted to be one of the highest tick populations we've experienced in years.
Read more here.
To answer some of her questions about how best to combat this CT problem she sat down recently with Tom Charron, owner of Tick Stoppers. Here's what she found out.
Why do I need tick control on my property?
Lyme disease is on the rise and prevention against Lyme disease starts with tick control.
But I don’t have any deer on my property?
Deer are not the only animals carrying ticks. A variety of animals including, but not limited to, mice, squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons and even birds are known to carry ticks.
What types of treatments do you offer?
I am able to offer both synthetic and natural treatments. We will treat the perimeter of the property, wooded areas, shrub beds, stone walls, wood piles, foundation plantings, and any other tick habitat.
How long do I have to wait to let the dog or kids out to play?
It is recommended that you wait a 24 hour period.
How often do I need to treat my property?
Our Tick Control solutions include approximately 4-5 applications a year, targeting the tick at peak activity during the tick life cycle.
Tell us about yourself.
I am a licensed and insured arborist. I have a Bachelors of Science in Urban Forestry from University of Massachusetts, at Amherst and an Associate’s Degree from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture. I have over 16 years of experience working in Fairfield County, caring for a range of properties and estates.
I trust my tick control solutions so much that, as a father of three young girls and an owner of a dog, I treat my own property in Fairfield with Tick Stoppers.
