Neighborhood Alert!
A Message from the Fairfield Police:

Over the course of the last several weeks Fairfield began experiencing an increase in items taken from unlocked vehicles located in private residential
driveways. Eventually the thieves have resorted to forcing their way into locked vehicles when they were able to see items such as electronics in plain view.
Leaving items in your vehicle presents the fuel that keeps the thieves coming back. The Police dept has worked in conjunction with the print and television
media to alert our citizens.

In the last two weeks we began to see a sharp increase in residential burglaries that happen largely during the day with some isolated burglaries during the evening. Most of the homes were found to be unlocked prior to the burglary. Some were forced entry. The burglaries are happening throughout town in general but the Stratfield and Jennings school area has been targeted lately.  We have reports of incidents on Fairland drive, Burroughs rd, Fairfield Woods rd, Melvile ave and Samp Mortar dr. It is important that we prevent fueling this behavior by first making sure that all windows and doors are secured and locked before you leave the house. Also do not leave any items outside that might attract the attention of these burglars. Together we can work to help reduce the chances of you becoming a victim.

Also please report ANY  suspicious behavior or vehicle to the police, regardless of how small or unimportant you might think it is. Often times it's the smallest bit of information  that yields the greatest results.
Thank You!!   Sergeant James Perez Public Affairs office
