Middle School Redistricting
Monday, August 09, 2010

We're still in the heat of summer, but school redistricting is underway by the Board of Education. The expansion and renovation of Fairfield Woods Middle School requires the Board of Education to adopt a new "feeder pattern" that determines the middle school each elementary school will attend. A BOE Subcommittee will be recommending to the entire Board of Education that they adopt Middle School Feeder Pattern "Plan E" for the 2011-2012 School Year. Under "Plan E", 8 of Fairfield's 11 elementary schools will be moved to a different middle school to accommodate the expansion at Fairfield Woods.
Middle Schools Under "Plan E"
Fairfield Woods Middle School
Jennings, Holland Hill, Osborn Hill and North Stratfield
Roger Ludlowe Middle School
Riverfield, Roger Sherman, Mill Hill and Dwight
Tomlinson Middle School
McKinley, Burr Elementary and Stratfield
Fairfield Patch, one of the few local news organizations to report on this town-wide issue has all the details here.
The Board will discuss the proposed middle school "Plan E" on August 24th at 7:30 PM in the 2nd Floor Board Conference Room at the BOE offices located at 501 Kings Highway East and the vote will take place in early to mid-September.
If you have thoughts or concerns regarding this issue, it is important that you speak up NOW. By the time we're back to school, it will be too late.
