The 14th Annual Pequot Library Art Show is this weekend and “Celebrating Community” will be visible in the display of works by community artists throughout the Library. The show features over 200 pieces of art by gifted artists, whose talent and participation help make the Art Show such a success for Pequot Library.
The weekend begins on Friday evening, October 14th with the Gala Preview Party, with cocktails & supper, followed by “ARTinis” & dancing, a silent auction, and a chance to purchase Art-on-a-Card, a postcard-sized original work of art, as a souvenir of the evening.

Cerealism! Pop Art Collage Workshop for Kids
On Saturday, Oct. 15; 1:00-3:00 p.m., New York pop artist Michael Albert will conduct an art collage workshop: Cerealism!!! for ages 5-15. Adults are welcome to help the younger kids. Save those cereal boxes and bring them to a fantastic collage workshop presented by inventor of “cerealism.” View his work at www.cerealism.com.

Talk on public art by William Hosley, entitled “Art of the City: Sculpture and Civic Embellishment in Victorian Connecticut" will be presented on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 pm. Among the artists to be discussed is Edward Sheffield Bartholomew, a Connecticut native who spent much of his working career in Hartford, New York City, and Rome, and who produced both the marble bust of Library founder Virginia Marquand Monroe and the two bas relief sculptures that can be seen on the east wall of the Auditorium.
The weekend concludes with the traditional and wonderfully old fashioned “Sherry in the Library” following the talk.
