A Walk Into The Past
The Fairfield Museum is offering a series of walking tours of the Old Post Road Historic District on Saturdays, July 12, August 9 and September 13.

You'll learn about the colonial history of Fairfield while following the route of Old King's Highway, the route taken by George Washington, Ben Franklin and the British when they marched on Fairfield.  Tours will visit the place where the town started in 1639, the site of the county jail, Sherman Parsonage and Edward's Pond where 'witches' were once 'ducked.'  The Old Burying Ground is a favorite stop on the tour, where some of our town's founders are buried.

The tours begin at 2pm at the Fairfield Museum and History Center, located at 370 Beach Road, and are delivered by Bill Stansfield, a long-time Fairfield resident and former teacher.

The cost is $5 for museum members, $7 for non-members.
Make your reservation by calling the museum, 259-1598.
