Attention all Tom Cruise, err, "Top Gun" fans.
The Intrepid Museum opens its doors to the public for the first time after a 2-year renovation project which included new exhibit installations, restored aircraft, a new public park-like pier, new interactive exhibits, dry-docking and a new paint job for the former USS Intrepid.
The first 1,000 visitors will receive a coin to commemorate the Intrepid's return. Help celebrate this historic weekend with all-day festivities and a spectacular fireworksshow the evening of Saturday, November 8th.
Some of the museum features:
•The Intrepid, an Essex class aircraft carrier
•The Growler, an original Darter class, nuclear deterrent submarine
•Concorde, the fastest commercial airliner ever built
•Exploreum (children's interactive zone)
•Anchor Chain Room
•Max Flight simulators
•XD Theater
•Evolution, a 20-seat passenger thrill ride
Cost: Free (under 2), $7.50 (Ages 2 to 5), $14.50 (Ages 6 to 17), $19.50 per adult
