Go North or South on the Fourth
For those of you seeking an extraordinary Independence Day, head north to Boston or south to NYC!

Beantown celebrates in style as the Boston Pops mark their 39th Anniversary along with Jennifer Hudson and Michael Chiklis for a memorable concert. The event (concert and fireworks) takes place on the Esplanade in Boston along the Charles River and the Fireworks Spectacular is known as the premier Independence Day celebration in the nation.

No ticket is required. The event is free and open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Suzy recommends an early arrival and the following packing list:
An out of this world picnic
Frisbee
NY Times/Boston Globe and other reading material
Blanket for an afternoon snooze
Folding chairs
Patriotism


For the July 4th event (concert and fireworks) the gates to the Oval are open at 9AM. The show is approximately two and a half hours, with a two hour concert and a half hour firework display.

Wednesday, July 4th Schedule
9AM: Oval opens
8:30 -10:30PM: Boston Pops and Jennifer Hudson concert
10:30PM: Fireworks Show

Head south to Macy’s 36th Annual Fourth of July Fireworks in NYC, and view them anywhere you have an unobstructed view of the Hudson River. This year's extravaganza will will feature more then 40,000 fireworks that will light up the sky over the Hudson River at 9:20 PM on the 4th for a 26-minute show. Performers this year will be Katy Perry and Kenny Chesney.

The best view will be on Manhattan’s West Side between 23rd and 59th Streets and along New Jersey’s water front.
July 4th at 9 PM

Ignite the Night is the theme of the 2012 fireworks spectacular. The score will feature songs chosen by Macy's Facebook fans, including Ray Charles' "America the Beautiful," Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the U.S.A.", Madonna's "Holiday," Whitney Houston's "One Moment in Time," and more.
