What: North Stratfield School Drama Club’s musical production of The Wizard of Oz
When: Thursday and Friday, February 17 and 18, at 7 PM
Tickets: $6 per person, available at the door
Where: Fairfield Ludlowe High School
The production—an updated version of Frank L. Baum’s classic, complete with a hip-hopping Wicked Witch of the West!—is the fourth annual all-school musical presented by North Stratfield School. The performances are open to the public and tickets are available at the door.
This Wizard features a record-breaking cast of nearly 80 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The parents of every child are involved in the production in some capacity, whether building the charming sets for Munchkin Land and Emerald City, creating the eye-poppingly colorful costumes, selling tickets, creating programs, working the sound and lights and lots more. They are led by a hard-working committee comprised of North Stratfield moms chaired by Jean Gallati and Marnie Kruse, and sponsored by the NSS PTA. The production is directed and choreographed by Maria Verderber, a professional actress (stage name Maria Vee) who has been a member of the Downtown Cabaret Theater Children’s Company for the past ten seasons.
