Vacation Week Fun

If you're having a staycation this week with the kids off school, here are some fun activities to keep them busy and you sane.

Storytime: Celebrate the Earth! at the Fairfield Museum and History Center  Monday, April 16, 10:30 - 11:30 AM
Free with admission; free for members.  Do you know The Lorax by Dr. Seuss? And no, the movie doesn’t count! Meet the original Lorax and his Truffula Trees in the magical world of books. Come celebrate nature with fun stories and an adventure through the galleries. Even on the most glorious spring days, it’s good to listen, laugh, and lounge.

Spring Break Films at the Fairfield Public Library & Fairfield Woods Branch  Wednesday, April 18, 2 PM
A good movie is always a must for vacation week, and the Library is happy to have two selections.  On Wednesday April 18 at 2 PM, Puss in Boots will be shown at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road.   On Thursday, April 19 at 2 PM, The Adventures of Tintin will be shown at the Fairfield Woods Branch Library, 1147 Fairfield Woods Road.  Both films are rated PG.  No registration is needed for these drop-in programs.  In Puss in Boots, the sword-wielding cat from the animated Shrek movies, gets his own film.  Puss, with the voice of Antonio Banderas, is shown in his early adventures with Humpty Dumpty and Kitty.  In The Adventures of Tintin, intrepid reporter Tintin and his loyal dog Snowy race to uncover the secrets of a sunken ship that may hold a vast fortune – but also an ancient curse.


Family Vacation Concert with Keith Munslow at the Roger Ludlowe Middle School Gymnasium

Kids of all ages will enjoy Keith Munslow, an award winning musician and comedian on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 12:30 pm in the gymnasium of Roger Ludlowe Middle School!  (If the weather is nice the concert will take place outside on the field off the gymnasium.)  Doors open 20 minute prior to show time.  fairfieldrecreation.com


Parent Survival Night - Who's Your Hero? at The Little Gym of Fairfield
Friday, April 20, 6:00 -9:00 PM
Parents call it a break from the kids. Kids call it a break from their parents. The Little Gym's Parents Survival Nights lets you enjoy some adult time to see a movie, catch up with friends or enjoy a meal without—ahem—your pint-sized food critics in tow. Meanwhile, your children get some quality “kid time” in a safe, fun, familiar place with trained instructors who lead them through games and music-filled activities.  Parent Survival Night is for Children ages 3 and up who are potty trained.
