Grand Opening of Sprout

You never know what will spark an entrepreneurial idea. How about a fast-growing child who keeps outgrowing his new clothes?
Fairfield resident Rebecca Henley was inspired by her "sprouting", three-year-old son, Carter.
After spending a decade in brand marketing, Rebecca decided to pursue small business that combined the need for affordable yet high-quality apparel for growing youngsters.
Wednesday, her store, Sprout celebrates its grand opening. Sprout, located in the Garelick & Herbs plaza across from Westport's Stop and Shop, offers both new and resale children's clothing (size 6 and under).
"Resale is a wonderful opportunity to recycle and reuse while saving 60% - 80% off of retail," she explained. "We also have closeouts that offer brand new merchandise 60% off of retail. There is a nice group of Oilily in for the store opening."
Sprout's new merchandise section includes trendy, fun diaper bags from Fleurville and Reese Li, great baby gifts such as minky blankets and handmade burp cloths, a range of organic clothing and toys, as well as cool, hip t-shirts and clothing lines such as Appaman and Crib Rock Couture.
"There is no reason you can't get a great brand new top and pair it with pants or a skirt from the resale section," Rebecca said.
As for Sprout's consignment process, the client doesn't have to wait and receive 50% of whatever your items sell for, the store buys it outright. For more information on what apparel is accepted, log on to the store's website: www.sprout-kids.com.
"I want my customers to feel confident that everything on our racks is of top quality. I generally purchase less than 30% of what people bring me in order to maintain a high quality standard."
Sprout also purchases excersaucers and bouncy seats and will take higher end strollers (Bugaboo, Quinny, Phil and Teds) on consignment.
