This weekend's biggest event is at Compo Beach. Grab your pails and shovels (don't forget that sunscreen) and head to the beach for some serious sand castle building. Events don't get more family friendly than this. Even better, it's for a good cause. This annual event benefits the IHA/Homes with Hope program, a local non-profit working to combat homelessness and assisting families in need of food and shelter.
How does it work? Assemble your "team," purchase your beach "lot" and get ready to do your best building—using only sand, water and shells for your materials. Onlookers and builders alike will cast ballots to choose a winner. The real winners, of course, are all the families in need that IHA/Homes with Hope will be able to assist because of your generosity. See you at the beach!
