V-Day 2010
Grab your galpals, buy your tickets and head out for an afternoon at the theater!  The Center Stage Theater Company is bringing Eve Ensler's "poetic polemic," The Vagina Monologues to the Westport Country Playhouse for one day only, this Sunday, March 7, in recognition of V-Day. V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of Playwright/Founder Eve Ensler's award winning play. In 2007, more than 3000 V-Day events took place in the U.S. and around the world. To date, the V-Day movement has raised over $50 million and educated millions about the issue of violence against women and the efforts to end it. The Campaign is being initiated by V-Day and UNICEF, representing UN Action Against Sexual Violence in Conflict.  Like other performances across the country, this is a benefit, with 90% of the net proceeds going to our local Domestic Violence Crisis Center, an organization that helps thousands of women and children "find ways to live their lives in peace, without the threat of violence, intimidation or abuse."
