Since 1986, the Chemistry Department at Sacred Heart University has been offering a summer science camp, SciTech 21. Scitech21 is a two-week, non-profit program.  The program focuses on hands on science and instruction and is designed to provide its participants with exciting activities in areas that they would not ordinarily be able to study in a traditional classroom.  

Children develop a love of science through participating in any of the following courses: Ecology/zoology, Forensic Science, Chemistry, Gemstones & Geology, Oceanography, Robotics, Science and Technology, Premed/vet, Meteorology. Also, Young Scientist courses are offered for 2nd and 3rd graders in Physical Science, Robotics, Life Science and Space Journey.

All of the courses are taught by professional teachers in fully-equipped air-conditioned laboratories and classrooms. Each project, demonstration and experiment has been carefully selected with safety in mind.  The focus of each course is on “learning by doing” in a relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere.

Morning classes are from 9AM – 12N and afternoon classes are from 1 - 4PM.  

For students who are attending both morning and afternoon courses, Scitech 21 provides a supervised “Lunch Bunch” – which is offered free of charge.
