Urgent Care Without a Long Wait
Is there anything worse than a sick child (or adult) on a weekend?

Is there anything worse than waiting at a walk-in clinic for two hours in the midst of moaning, groaning, sneezing and coughing patients?

Suzy was up all night Friday with the typical kid with an earache. We stumbled upon the new Fairfield Urgent Care Center on Saturday morning.  We walked in -- no wait.  We arrived home within an hour, armed with antibiotics. (In the past, we have always gone to St. Vincent's Immediate Care Center on the Post Road but the wait is interminable.)

The clinic is run by Bridgeport Hospital so they can access any records and medical information you might have.  The small medical center is intimate, clean, and the staff is friendly.  The doctor on call phoned in a prescription across the street to Lupe's Pharmacy and it was ready within minutes.  Nearly one-stop shopping!

Hours: Monday - Friday 8 AM - 8 PM
       Weekends 9 AM - 5 PM
       No Appointment Necessary.

Services:  Colds, fevers, coughs, sore throats and ear infections (!). Minor burns.  Fractures: x-rays and splints. Stitches and stitch removal.  Laboratory:  throat culture and blood work.

Payment: Fairfield Urgent Care accepts most insurances, including Medicare and Medicaid. It's important to note that they charge the ER co-pay, so your visit for a sore throat will cost around $150)

Where: Intersection of Stillson and Black Rock Turnpike, behind the gas station.
               309 Stillson Road, Fairfield, CT

Suzy's Tip: Call both Fairfield Urgent Care and St. Vincent's Clinic and see whose got a shorter wait time before you leave the house.
