It's the Great Pumpkin
The leaves are falling, a chill is in the air and Suzy is primed for some pumpkin picking fun.  Area farms offer some of the best autumn adventures in the county.  And just like a good galpal, Suzy's got the scoop on all the fall fun around.

Jones Family Farms
Farmer Jones has cultivated more than just a bumper crop of pumpkins.  He's got everything you're looking for on an autumn afternoon: hayrides, a corn maze, cider, a hoedown for the kiddos and, of course acres of pumpkins.  Stocked with every kind of pumpkin Suzy's ever heard of, and plenty she hasn't, Jones Family Farms has every kind of gorgeous gourd you need, from your front step to your fall table.  And galpals after Suzy's own heart will love their on location winery.

All the info is at www.jonesfamilyfarms.com.  While you're browsing their site, make sure you check out their UNICEF Children's festival, happening October 24 and 25.  It's an in-costume weekend packed with face painting, pumpkin decorating and tossing, sing-a-longs, hayrides and tons more seasonal fun.  You can also call them for the details at 203-929-8425.

Silverman's Farm
Silverman's is the farm in our backyard.  Just a few miles from your house, they offer all the fall fun for a fraction of the travel time.  Their petting zoo boasts goats, sheep, llamas and donkeys and makes this farm a favorite with local families.  They've also got plenty of pumpkins for the picking.  While you're there, don't miss their roadside market for seasonal treats like cider, maple syrup and mulling spices.

Find them at www.silvermansfarm.com or call them at 203-261-3306.

Plasko's Farm
Plasko's is an area autumn institution, boasting a formidable corn maze (this year's is planted in the shape of a spider).  Folks travel from far and wide to lose themselves among the cornstalks—legend has it that many a Manhattanite has been spotted wandering the maze at this time of year.  They also offer hayrides, pumpkin decorating, food, crafts and games.  A quick trip up the highway to Trumbull takes you to the bucolic bliss of Plasko's farm.

All their information is at www.plaskosfarm.com.  You can call them at 203-26-2716.
