Get Dirty at the Pequot Library’s Screening of DIRT! The Movie
The Fairfield Organic Teaching Farm presents DIRT! The Movie, at an event hosted by the Pequot Library. The film, narrated by Jamie Lee Curtis, “explores Earth’s most underappreciated and valuable source of fertility.”

In addition to the screening, the Fairfield Organic Teaching Farm will present their first ever annual Hummingbird Award, recognizing Fairfield County residents who “who have demonstrated a sustained commitment to preserving the environment for the benefit of present and future generations.” This year’s recipients include: Michel Nischan, Founder and CEO of Wholesome Wave, an organization committed to bringing fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables to inner-city residents; Princie Falkenhagen, the President of The Aspetuck Land Trust and board member of the CT Fund For The Environment;  Joy Shaw, the founder of The Mill River Wetland Committee, which guides Fairfield elementary school children through environmental study trips of the Mill River and its estuaries; and Sal Gilbertie, operator of Gilbertie’s  Herb Gardens in Westport, he is the largest herb plant grower in the US.

Everyone is invited to watch the film and celebrate these environmental leaders in our midst. Summer pie tastings and an auction to benefit the farm are all part of the fun.
