This Sunday at 10:00 AM, grab your favorite pink outfit and head to Sherwood Island State Park for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

Last October, 5,500 participants -- including 326 survivors -- raised nearly $500,000 to fight breast cancer through our research, patient support, education, and advocacy programs. Join them this year and help raise even more money.

The walk is sponsored by the American Cancer Society, which currently funds 202 breast cancer research grants across the nation, totaling more than $109 million. Grants are active at many notable institutions, including Yale University in New Haven.

Corporate sponsors of Making Strides include EMCOR Group Inc. of Norwalk and Purdue Pharma LP of Stamford. Media sponsors include News 12, Star 99.9 FM and 96.7 FM The Coast.

Volunteers are still needed. For more information: Mary Kate Carofano at 563-1533, or www.cancer.org/stridesonline.
