Rooms with a View
Thursday, November 01, 2007
The 13th annual designer showcase, "Rooms with a View" takes place November 1-4 at Southport Congregational Church on Pequot Avenue.
The premier interior design event in Fairfield County transforms the hall and Church Library into four days with 12 mini-showrooms. All designers start with the same three walls, which are built on the spot. This year's theme is "The Wonder of the Earth". Among the interior designers is Victoria Hagan of New York City who will create miniature showrooms exhibiting their individual flair and design sense.
Albert Hadley, one of the more noteworthy interior designers of his time, is a church member and has been the event's chairman since its inception.
While the twelve designer vignettes are the centerpiece of ROOMS with a VIEW, the show provides many other attractions. The classrooms at the church are transformed into a Marketplace featuring over 20 high-end vendors selling jewelry, home accessories, antique prints, art, and unique items of clothing. The Marketplace Caf will serve delicious lunches and desserts.
Jennifer Butler Designs will put on a fashion show in the tent while a gourmet luncheon is served on Friday, November 2nd. The price of the fashion show and luncheon is $30, and includes admission to the show over the entire weekend.
The gala preview party, featuring both a live and silent auction, kicks off the event on Thursday, November 1st, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tickets for the preview party begin at $100. Guests will be treated to an array of delectable hors d'oeuvres provided by Festivities, owned by Rosinne Chlala and Bill Kaliff, as well as wine, champagne cocktails and other beverages.
