A Green Tea Party

A Green Tea Party
Ever wonder what you could do to promote a greener community here in Fairfield?

The town has created a program called Tea Talk where you host a party with your galpals.

Here's what the community website says:

Like a "home party", a Tea Talk (made possible through the generous support of Bigelow Tea) is a pre-packaged presentation to educate and engage your friends and neighbors in helping to protect and preserve Fairfield's environmental vitality.

Download a ready-made invitation. You invite friends, serve whatever you like, and the tea is provided through the generosity of Bigelow Tea.

Call Tea Talk coordinator, Jen Hauhuth (203 610-6762). She will note the date you have selected. Then you will receive a package with everything you will need.

You'll receive:
  • loose packs of Bigelow Green Tea, to serve your guests
  • CT Clean Energy Options sign-up forms for voluntary sign-up
  • Fairfield Town Green Pledge cards (featuring free samples of Bigelow Tea)

Afraid of public speaking? When you schedule your Tea Talk, you can also request a short DVD or PowerPoint presentation by Fairfield students to show your guests. These entertaining and educational presentations show how and why simple lifestyle changes matter to Fairfield and the whole earth.

After viewing the presentation, ask guests to pledge their personal commitments to Fairfield's environmental well-being. Give each guest a pledge card, and when they sign, cut off the bottom stub with their signature. Encourage guests to sign up for CT Clean Energy Options (which is voluntary and non-binding.)
Why sign up? For about 3-$7 more per month (depending on option selected and personal electricity usage) you can:
  • support electricity generated from clean, renewable resources like wind, hydro and methane gas
  • improve local air and water quality
  • help Fairfield earn FREE solar panels: For every 100 residents who sign up, Fairfield earns a free solar panel installation, like the $20,000 system recently installed at Fairfield Woods Middle School.
