What to Do When School's Out
The kids are off school this week. Here are some fun activities to keep them busy if you're staying in town:

On the Big Screen...
For the older kids (and you!) Check out the newest IMAX movie at the Maritime Aquarium  - Rolling Stones: Shine A Light (PG 13)The greatest rock and roll band is captured live by one of the greatest directors, Martin Scorsese, and then shown on the largest screens in the world.

For the younger set... Sea Monsters
Monsters in the "flesh" "come to life" as photo-realistic, computer-generated creatures in the IMAX movie "Sea Monsters, A Prehistoric Adventure."

For everyone  - Tropical Rainforest
"Tropical Rainforest" is a global film that examines the long evolution of the rainforests, the rapid and recent destruction of this habitat by humans, and the scientific efforts to understand the tropical rainforests even as they disappear.

At the Zoo...
Backyard Beasts
Date: 4/14/2008  -  4/18/2008  ( 2 p.m.  to 3 p.m. )
This program for kindergarten and elementary age children and their families will feature a different animal each day. These interactive 45-minute programs may include a live animal, animal stories and animal facts as we answer questions in Professor Beardsley's Research Station. Free with paid zoo admission.  

April Adventures
Date: 4/14/2008  -  4/18/2008  ( 9 a.m.  to 12:30 p.m. )
Children ages 6 to 11 may sign up for one to five days of this program that features Zookeeper talks, behind-the-scenes tours, animal encounters, crafts, games and other activities. The April 14 program is "Heritage Breeds & the Farmyard." The April 15 program is "Let's Explore Reptiles & Insects." The April 16 program is "Up Close with Plants and the Rainforest." The April 17 program is "Fangs, Fur, Claws & Tails." The April 18 program is "Wonderful Wetlands, Awesome Aviary." Cost is $35 per day ($30 for zoo members) or $150 for the week ($125 for Zoo members). Pre-registration is required by calling 203-394-6563.
