Dear Mr. President
With the Presidential Inauguration right around the corner, here's a fun activity that you can do with your child and who knows… it might get published.

Through a joint effort between NEA and kidthing®, your child can join kids from all across the nation to share their hopes, dreams, and ideas with President-elect Barack Obama.

To participate, kids send in their ideas in the form of letters or drawings. The top submissions will be featured in kidthing's Dear Mr. President digital book which will be unveiled in the kidthing store on President's Day, February 16, 2009. kidthing will offer this special digital book for free. A limited edition print will also be sent to the White House.

Your child's submission can be artwork, a handwritten letter, or both:

  • It should be created on an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper.
  • It should be landscape (horizontal) orientation.
  • Please use bold markers or crayons.
  • Submissions may be more than one page.
  • Paper can be any color. (But remember that darker paper won't show off your kid's awesome creations.)
  • Is your child's handwriting only legible to you? Feel free to send a note along to transcribe what it says.

How to Submit Entries
There are two ways to submit entries:

  • Send original artwork or documents through the mail
