Say Goodbye to the Monsters
One of the little-known gems of this area is the Discovery Museum, the perfect place to entertain the older kids in your family.

Here's another reason to check it out: the Discovery Museum Bids its Monsters a Fond Farewell with a Send-Off Party on Friday, January 23rd.

The Discovery Museum is bidding its beloved monster exhibit a fond farewell with a "Monsters, Macaroni and Movies" party.  Festivities will begin at 5 pm and the museum will be open until 8 that night.

A full dome, digital planetarium show, Dawn of the Space Age will be presented at 7 pm.  Macaroni and cheese and movies are included in the general admission price.  Guests will be able to purchase snacks and beverages.  Reservations are not required, but visitors are encouraged to call ahead.

The blockbuster exhibit, How to Make a Monster: the art and technology of animatronics, was created by Academy Award winning animatronics expert John Cox and his talented Creature Workshop crew.  The exhibition reveals the secrets behind movie creatures and how they are made and showcases some popular movie monsters.

The Discovery Museum is southern Connecticuts preeminent non-profit educational resource for science and space education. It is located at 4450 Park Avenue in Bridgeport just one mile south of Merritt Parkway Exit 47.

Regular admission is $8.50 for adults and $7 for children over 5, seniors and students with I.D.s.  Multiple membership levels are also available.

Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 AM  5:00 PM and Sunday 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.   The museum will be open Monday, January 19, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
