Kid-Friendly Restaurants
Here's a list of what our galpals have supplied as the best tantrum-accepting, pretty-good-tasting food, too restaurants in town.  If you have a recommendation, Tell Suzy.

Archie Moore's
Sure it's a Fairfield U hangout but Archie's has great buffalo wings and a loud atmosphere. Head to the non-smoking section in the back where the parents are holding court. Great fries and no worries if the kids spill or meltdown.
48 Sanford Street, Phone: #256-9295 www.archiemoores.com

Southport Brewing Company
Parents feel like they are in a "real" restaurant and can enjoy a quality brew, while the kids receive neat trays and toys. Suzy's not crazy about SBC's booster seats so err on the side of a high chair. At the end of a loooong weekend with the kids, try SBC" "Family Night". Every Sunday evening from 5:30-8:30 PM. Bring the kids to enjoy a magician, special kids menu and fun for the entire family.
2600 Post Road, Southport, Phone: 256-BEER www.southportbrewing.com

Centro Ristorante
If you feel like going out to a real restaurant. Try Centro. The tablecloths are meant for coloring. Tables come equipped with crayons.  Real food but warm to the Little Ones.
1435 Post Road, Phone: 255-1210 www.centroristorante.com

Ash Creek Saloon
A strong meal in a casual setting, Ash Creek can provide you also with a kids menu. Great for a dinner out with friends when you don't have a babysitter. Make sure to get the ribs.
93 Post Road, Phone: 255-5131 www.ashcreeksaloon.com

Kobi's
A fun night out for the family.  Book a hibachi table.  The kids will be entertained by the chefs and the loud knives and flying flames. Plus the food's delish.  (Sushi for mom is available!)
451 King's Highway E., Phone: 610-6888 www.kobisrestaurant.com

Bear and Grill
Owned by nearby Cinzano's the Bear and Grill is a rustic Adirondack-themed joint.  The food is American cuisine but the atmosphere is fun with the woodsy animal decor. Coloring mats and crayons provided for the kids. Every kid's meal also comes with a prize. Every Wednesday, for each adult entree ordered, a child under 12 eats free.
2000 Black Rock Turnpike, Phone: 333-1522www.bearandgrill.com

Bertucci's-Westport
One of Suzy's favorite bail-out dinners is heading to Bertucci's.  Very family-friendly with lots of coloring and small pizza portions with ice cream included in the kids' meal.  Watch the guys prepare the pies in the big oven.  Gets packed after 6 PM so head early if you don't want to wait for a table.
833 Post Road East, Westport, Phone: 454-1559.

Friendly's
Not sure you're kids are well-behaved enough tonight to brave any of the above.  Friendly's is always a kid-safe zone.  They practically want you to spill something. The menu was meant for toddlers. And it's nearly as cheap as eating at home.
3671 Post Road, Southport, Phone: 255-9779

DINERS
You can't go wrong at one of the town's outstanding Greek diners. They all just feel informal.

Penny Diner
Suzy's galpal Michele has a tip for families frequenting the Penny. She writes, "Be sure to sit in Burt's station. He's the grandpa waiter who knows all the tricks to keep little one's happy. He brings plastic spoons to play with, drinks with lids for no spills. He serves the kids fast and first so Mom and Dad have time to butter pancakes, and cut the french toast before their meals arrive."
2200 Black Rock Turnpike, Phone: 576-9884

Athena Diner
Suzy spends nearly every Saturday morning with her kids at Athena.  So she doesn't leave feeling guilty, scrumptious whole-grain blueberry pancakes are the key (they're not always listed on the menu).  Superb!
3350 Post Rd., Southport, Phone: 259-0603

Circle Diner
Fairfield's newest diner is a busy spot, but if there's a wait (sometimes on weekends) it's never long.
Unlike Suzy, her galpal Amanda leaves the Circle every Saturday feeling a bit guilty after dining on the bacon and cheese omlet or the chocolate chip pancakes. She just can't help herself. They welcome families with as many kids as you want to bring along.
